I always try to study a certain approach to light and the type of shot, depending on the subject that I have to photograph. The jewels in gold, made in Lombard style, have been photographed in candlelight. My intention here was to restore the emotions felt when seeing these gold decorations inside the Roman church: the warmth of the gold seemed to really be a reflection of divine light. Completely different however was my approach to the surgeons’ masks, as if hung in a luminous background that at the same time highlights the delicate colours. The idea of hygiene, efficiency and modernity is therefore transmitted.
